Writer's picture: Bailey WilburBailey Wilbur

Family date nut cookie recipe! These cookies are something that my family and I always have around the winter months. The recipe calls for buttermilk, chopped pecans (or any nut desired), and pitted dates. The result is a soft, nutty, and flavorful cookie. This recipe also makes A LOT of cookies be prepared!

Pull Together:

  • 2 cups brown sugar

  • 1 cup of butter

  • 2 eggs

  • 3 1/2 cups flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

  • 1 1/2 chopped pecans (any nut)

  • 2 cups pitted and chopped dates

Steps:

  1. Cream sugar and butter together. Add in eggs one at a time.

  2. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together. Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk, starting and ending with dry ingredients.

  3. Stir in nuts and dates, and chill for at least 1 hour. Preheat oven to 400F when ready to bake cookies.

  4. Drop by teaspoon, 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes and enjoy!
